Knorr Family Adventures

Andrei and Ilya (ages 7 and 6 respectively) went on a school trip which was 2 and a half days and 2 nights long.  I was nervous but we decided to let them go since absolutely every single person in their class went (including a mildly autistic boy and a boy in a wheelchair).  They went to a farm but other than that I don't have much info except for the pictures that were taken either by Andrei or of Andrei by his teacher.  When the boys came back, they were absolutely exhausted and went to bed around 7PM.  They aren't saying what they did on the trip either ...

To continue about our adventure in Belgium ... Since we were late to the Atlantic Wall Museum the day before, we made sure to get there on time the following day.  Chris and Andrei watched a documentary on Atlantic Wall before we went so they kind of knew what to expect.  I had no idea but it was a really good open air museum.  The Atlantic Wall was a German defensive installation with lots of trenches and artillery.  You can look out onto the sea through some windows, boys listened to the audio guide; it was a little harder for me and Chris as we tried to chase Anton around.  He is a really fast little runner and he can get into places that bigger people can't!  We brought a stroller with us (my idea) but ended up leaving it at mid-point because once we got there it became clear that trenches and strollers don't go well together. A couple of weeks ago we went to Belgium and we really enjoyed our long weekend doing all "Belgian" things.  We arrived in Brussels late on Thursday night so our our adventures started on Friday morning which was a holiday so most of the things were closed and we went to get Belgian waffles for breakfast. There are two different kinds of Belgian waffles - Liege and Brussels.  Liege is just a straight up waffle that you get for 1 euro and is my absolute favorite and has been since I lived in Brussels 10 years ago.  Brussels waffle comes with fancy toppings - whipped cream, fruit, Nutella, etc.  Ilya and Anton both love chocolate while Andrei loves Nutella.  Unfortunately, I was too busy eating to take any pictures :( Many people don't think that Belgium has a lot of things to see but if you look you can find lots of things to do there.  After our breakfast we ventured to see Mannikin Pis - a statue of a 2 year old boy peeing.  Honestly, it's famous ...

After 6 months of struggling with recycling paper, we finally upgraded the bin.  That's the size for a month worth of paper garbage Regular garbage bin in comparison to Anton, taken out every 2 weeks

Update: this was written before we went to Belgium but for some reason never got published and we had no internet in Brussels so here it is now. As we are heading out to Brussels on Thursday, I need to finish up our last trip before my memories fade.  After we left the Alps, we stopped by Weismuster Church in the middle of nowhere which kind of rips you off.  It's literally in the middle of nowhere and you have to pay 3 euros for parking, then pay another 3 euros to get inside the church.   It's absolutely beautiful setting but not really worth the drive.  After we left, we stopped by Augsburg (a little town) on a way to Munich. So far in our travels we rent apartments which gives us some flexibility in terms of having a kitchen, and usually 2 bedrooms.  Kitchen helps because we can make quick breakfast and if we want a quick dinner (usually mac and cheese or something equally fast and easy).  However, some times boys ask to stay...
